About the Report:

This study looks at the top 250 public-listed companies in 5 ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines) and the information they disclose to stakeholders on the strategies or systems they have in place to manage their human rights impact. Companies were assessed on the maturity of their human rights disclosures using 30 points of information aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) under the following six categories:

2. 2. Policy Statements on Human Rights
3. 3. Operational Information
4. 4. Due Diligence
5. 5. Monitoring and Reporting
6. 6. Claims and Remediation

The top 10 companies* with the highest scores are:

Malaysia and Thailand stood apart as leaders of human rights disclosure, with 84% of companies in Malaysia making some type of commitment to human rights. Palm Oil and tobacco companies stood out as the most thorough and active with regards to due diligence.
