Terengganu, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak have been identified as potential leaders in the carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) industry because the four states have decommissioned oil wells and existing terminal facilities suitable for CCUS activities, said Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli. CCUS is one of the pilot projects in Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap. “The ministry is collaborating with these four states to ensure smooth implementation. The order of execution will depend on the commercial readiness of each project,” said Rafizi.
