Investment, trade and industry minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said a new Maharani Energy Gateway Project in Muar, Johor, will promote green initiatives and job opportunities, and boost trade opportunities with Chinese companies. The project is a collaboration between Maharani Energy Gateway Sdn Bhd (MEG) and China Energy International Group (CEIG) Sdn Bhd. It consists of a combined cycle gas turbine power plant and a green hydrogen and green ammonia plant, totalling investments of US$2 billion (RM9.5 billion).
