The Taiping Municipal Council is the first local authority in Perak to use the CW 300 composting machine to decompose food waste into organic fertiliser. Perak Science, environment and green technology committee chairman Teh Kok Lim said the machine can produce 60 kilogrammes of compost within 24 hours. The machine may be adopted in Ipoh and Teluk Intan after initial testing in Taiping, Teh said.
