Spiritus And Aramco Sign A Historic Direct Air Capture Agreement
Spiritus, a climate tech company, and Aramco, a global energy and chemicals company, have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance direct-air-capture (DAC) of carbon removal. The agreement aims to improve Spiritus’ novel sorbent technology and explore potential piloting and scale deployment within Saudi Arabia. Spiritus’ approach to DAC addresses major cost challenges, including reducing energy needs, passive air collection, and a proprietary sorbent material that removes carbon from the atmosphere with tenfold increased adsorption efficiency compared to existing methods. The signing ceremony, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, highlighted the innovation collaboration between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia towards their respective net-zero goals.
