Solar Plant at Indonesia’s New Capital to Cut 104,000 Tons of CO2 Emissions
Indonesian President Joko Widodo attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a 50-megawatt solar power plant in the new capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan. He stated that the facility would reduce annual carbon emissions by up to 104,000 tons and produce around 93 gigawatt hours of green energy each year. This solar plant is part of the government's efforts to establish a reliable and environmentally friendly electricity system for Nusantara's power needs. The construction of hospitals, schools, and hotels is also planned for Nusantara. In addition to solar power, the region will harness hydropower from rivers and lakes.
