Singapore’s Sembcorp Announces 2023-2028 Strategic Plan to Drive Energy Transition
Sembcorp Industries has outlined its 2023-2028 strategic plan, reaffirming its commitment to transition from brown to green energy. The company, a leading renewables player in Asia, plans to grow its gross installed renewables capacity to 25GW by 2028, up from its current 12GW. Sembcorp aims to halve its emissions intensity to 0.15 tCO2e/MWh by 2028, with targets of reducing absolute emissions to 2.7 million tCO2e by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The company will actively manage its gas portfolio and invest in capabilities related to low-carbon energy, feedstock, carbon management, and hydrogen production. Approximately 75% of its 2024-2028 investments will be allocated to renewables, 10% to hydrogen-ready assets, 10% to decarbonization solutions, and 5% to the Integrated Urban Solutions segment. This strategic plan reflects Sembcorp's commitment to the energy transition and sustainable development.
