Singapore is Operationally Ready for Sustainable Aviation Fuel
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), GenZero, and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have concluded a 20-month pilot project for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) that began in February 2022, in partnership with the Singapore investment fund Temasek. The project aimed to establish a secure and long-term SAF supply ecosystem for Singapore, supporting a recommendation from the International Advisory Panel (IAP) on Sustainable Air Hub. The pilot confirmed Singapore's operational readiness to supply SAF without needing infrastructure changes. It also demonstrated the generation and sale of SAF credits, with a focus on decarbonizing and financing SAF. Approximately two-thirds of the SAF credits generated were sold during the pilot, validating market demand.
