Multinational oil firm Shell's Malaysian subsidiary and national oil company Petronas are jointly exploring the development of carbon sequestration hubs in the country. Both parties signed an agreement on 12 October 2022 that entails the development and operation of potential carbon sequestration hubs offshore Sarawak. The hubs will provide decarbonisation services to cross-border regional customers.
