Shell Investors Should Oppose Climate Resolution, Glass Lewis Says

Investor proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis has recommended that Shell shareholders vote against a resolution filed by a group of 27 investors. The resolution, led by activist shareholder Follow This, urges the energy company to set tighter climate targets. It urges Shell to align its medium-term carbon emissions reduction targets with the Paris Climate Agreement. The resolution will be brought to a vote at Shell’s annual general meeting on May 23. This recommendation comes amidst increasing pressure on energy companies to take more stringent measures to combat climate change.
