Sarawak will soon integrate solar energy into housing projects, in line with the state government’s commitment towards green energy, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. With more details to be announced in early May, the premier has already instructed utility provider Sarawak Energy to look into having solar-powered homes in the state. Citing Sarawak Energy’s Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (SARES) project, Abang Johari said that the replacement of diesel-based energy with solar hybrid energy has benefitted the remote communities.
