Sarawak Energy Will No Longer Build Coal-Fired Plants To Generate Electricity, Says Chairman

Sarawak Energy Berhad chairman Datuk Amar Hamed Sepawi said that Sarawak will no longer construct coal-fired plants to generate power in the future as the state moves towards renewable energy. He was speaking at the launch of Sarawak’s first industrial microalgae facility in Sejingkat. The chairman of Malaysia’s largest renewable energy developer also added that the 624 megawatts Balingian coal-fired plant will be the last one to be built by the group.
