The Sabah government is actively exploring the blue economy, focusing on its marine resources’ potential for economic growth and plans for an international seminar on the subject to take place in October, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance Sabah's economic landscape through both new and existing resources, including collaborating with Petronas to enhance participation in the oil and gas sector. Sabah has experienced an influx of RM12 billion in domestic and foreign investment over the past two years.
