Proton Urges Transition to Renewable Energy in the Auto Industry

Proton Holdings Bhd called on other automotive manufacturers and stakeholders within the supply chain to transition to renewable energy, in order to align with Malaysia’s target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The national automaker recently won the 2023 National Energy Awards for their bi-facial solar panel facility at their Tanjung Malim plant. Proton chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong said the solar facility had reduced carbon emissions at the plant by 32,406 tonnes and saved RM10 million in electricity costs since 2021.
