Petronas, Eni, Euglena Collaborate On Biorefinery In Pengerang For Sustainable Fuels
Malaysia’s national oil firm Petroliam Nasional (Petronas) is jointly studying the possibility of developing and operating a biorefinery in the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Johor with Italy-based oil giant Eni and Japanese biotechnology company Euglena. The biorefinery is aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel for aircraft and hydrogenated vegetable oil for on-road vehicles, trains and marine vessels. The three parties are currently carrying out technical and economic feasibility assessments for the proposed project, with a investment decision targeted to be made by 2023 and plant completion by 2025.
