Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PCG) has acquired Perstorp Holding AB (Perstorp), a Swedish sustainability-driven chemicals company, for RM 7.31 billion. PCG managing director and CEO Mohd Yusri Mohamed Yusof said the acquisition of Perstorp will help create a new growth platform for PCB in the specialty chemicals industry. He said Perstorp will be launching Project Air in the near future, which aims to reduce carbon emissions through the production of sustainable methanol. Mohd Yusri noted that Perstorp’s Finite Material Neutral initiatives will help PCG’s projects towards achieving its net-zero carbon emissions target by 2050.
