Perak MB Inc plants 75,000 trees in sustainable development push

Perak Menteri Besar Incorporated (MB Inc) planted 75,000 trees, including endangered species, across the state as part of the Perak tree planting campaign from November 2020 to September 2021. Its chairman of the board, Anuar Zainal Abidin, said that while MB Inc's projects include mining, quarrying, housing and hydroelectric, the company also cleans rivers and plants trees to achieve sustainable development. Among the trees planted were Bakau, Berembang and Ketapang, to prevent erosion near riverbanks. He said they choose these trees after consulting with various agencies, including environmental groups. Anuar also said that the tree planting campaign not only helped the environment but also provided a livelihood for the nearby Orang Asli community. “We planted 9,620 coffee trees in the villages of Orang Asli, namely Kampung Air Bah, Kampong Asu Hulu Perak and Kampung Jerawat. “All the villagers have been trained by the coffee plantation experts in planting and caring for the trees. As soon as the trees produce their harvest, the Orang Asli can generate income from them," he explained.
