Panasonic plans to source Malaysian palm oil waste for new recycled board technology

Panasonic Housing Solutions Co Ltd is conducting a feasibility study on whether Malaysia’s palm oil waste can be used to make its PALM LOOP recycled boards. Developed in conjunction with the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS), the board is a medium-density fibreboard (MDF) which can be turned into furniture. Assistant chief of Panasonic’s innovation division Mohammad Erman Syazwan Che Fauzi stated that this project could reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and prevent illegal deforestation by turning waste into useful products.
