Number of Agricultural Sector Biogas Stations Should Be Increased, Says DPM Zahid
The number of biogas stations in the agricultural sector should be increased to achieve Malaysia’s renewable energy capacity target of 31 per cent by 2025. Renewable energy exploration lowers dependence on fossil fuels and reduces the government’s burden in electricity subsidies distribution, said deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Presently, the largest palm oil mill effluent biogas power plant project at the Felcra Jayaputra Palm Oil Mill has a capacity of 5.5 megawatts (MW) and can supply electricity to nearly 14,000 homes.
