The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) is conducting a study on the national carbon market policy. The policy aims to facilitate the adoption of compliance and voluntary carbon market mechanisms and foster the local carbon trading industry. NRES minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said that the policy is scheduled for completion next year. The ministry is in ongoing discussions with state governments on land and forestry carbon market mechanisms.
