Malaysia's Ministry of Finance (MoF) said that the government does not plan to implement a carbon tax in the near future. However, the ministry also said that there might be a need for the tax in the long term and its feasibility will be studied in order to gauge the impact of such a tax on industries and consumers. The carbon tax must be formulated in alignment with fuel subsidies so that the two policies' objectives do not contradict each other.
