Nippon Steel, Mitsubishi And Exxonmobil Partner For Carbon Capture
Japanese steel producer Nippon Steel Corporation, global trading firm Mitsubishi Corporation, and oil and gas company ExxonMobil Asia Pacific have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly study carbon capture and storage (CCS), with the goal of establishing potential CCS chains in the Asia Pacific region. The MoU included a detailed evaluation of potential storage opportunities, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia. Nippon Steel and Mitsubishi Corporation have released carbon neutral targets while ExxonMobil has stated its commitment to emissions reductions. All three companies believe that CCS is one of the key technologies in realising their goals.
