MSM Plans to Plant 1,000 Mangroves in Penang This Year
MSM Prai Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd, plans to plant 1,000 mangroves in stages this year in areas solely dedicated for tree and mangrove planting in Penang. In conjunction with World Environment Day, group chief executive officer Syed Feizal Syed Mohammad said that the sugar refiner is reiterating its commitment to preserving and conserving the environment. This mangrove tree planting programme is a strategic collaboration with Penang Environment Department (DOE) and Penang Inshore Fishermen Welfare Association (PIFWA) and is a continuation of efforts following last year’s event in which 700 mangrove saplings were successfully planted alongside MSM Prai’s refinery.
