MSIG Grows its Mangrove Planting Partnership with Malaysian Nature Society

MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd, a subsidiary of Japan’s Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, has partnered with the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) since 2019 to plant mangroves across Malaysia. In 2022, they planted 3,415 mangrove saplings in various states and plan to continue in 2023. The initiative aims to protect coastal communities from flooding, preserve biodiversity, and support the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action. MSIG employees have actively volunteered in the planting activities. CEO Chua Seck Guan emphasizes the vital role of mangroves in protecting coastlines, restoring biodiversity, and serving as carbon sinks to combat climate change. This initiative is part of MSIG's broader efforts to conserve biodiversity and protect the environment in Malaysia.
