The Trade and Agriculture Commission (TAC), an expert advisory group to the British government, concluded in an official report that the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification’s sustainability requirements exceed requirements imposed by the United Kingdom (UK). MPOC chief executive officer Belvinder Sron has urged the UK to move ahead with its planned zero tariffs on Malaysian palm oil. The next step should be for formal recognition by the UK government of the MSPO as a tool for compliance with the UK due diligence and associated regulations, said Belvinder.
