Microsoft’s Taiwan unit has formed the Taiwan ICT Sustainability Green Team to help local firms reduce carbon emissions. In addition to Microsoft, the alliance comprises Foxconn, AU Optronics, Delta Electronics, and many software startups and consulting organizations. At the announcement of the Green Team alliance, Flora Chen, COO of Microsoft’s Taiwan unit, urged Taiwanese manufacturers to achieve sustainability with transparent carbon footprints if they want to secure their positions in global supply chains. Chen highlighted that Microsoft has created a sustainability management platform to assist businesses in calculating and recording environmental footprints in the manufacturing process.
