Malaysia's Palm Oil Board, Petronas to Study Use of Palm Waste as Aviation Fuel

Malaysia's palm oil board and state oil firm Petronas have entered into a MoU to study the use of used cooking oil and palm oil waste for the production of sustainable aviation fuel. The agreement aims to explore the potential of palm-based products and wastes, like used cooking oil and palm oil mill effluent, as raw materials for local bio-refineries to create sustainable aviation fuel. This initiative aligns with Malaysia's National Energy Policy 2022-2040 to reduce carbon emissions and promote the energy sector's role in socioeconomic development.
