Malaysians Needs To Regulate For Extended Producer Responsibility: Experts

Malaysian businesses and regulators need to take extended producer responsibility (EPR) seriously, said experts attending a talk organised by Futurise, a Malaysia government-initiated company tasked with unlocking value in the nation's digital economy. At the REGTalk, supported by EUROCHAM Malaysia, KPMG sustainability advisory services head Phang Oy Cheng said that new legislation should be in place for better EPR adoption. Countries that have done so have found that EPR adoption does not hurt the bottom line, she said. Other representatives also suggested that moving towards a circular economy would bring new business opportunities.
