Malaysia to Set Up National Sustainable Development Goals Centre
The Malaysian government will establish a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Centre to empower and intensify SDG programmes in the country and to keep track of their progress, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced. Municipal and district councils, as well as state governments are encouraged to conduct Voluntary Local Reviews (VLR), which analyses SDG implementation at the local level, and each state must now minimally provide one report to assist tracking. The centre will be the responsibility of the Economic Planning Unit under the Prime Minister’s Department.
