Malaysia To Lift Export Ban On Renewable Energy

Malaysia will lift a ban on exports of renewable energy to develop its clean power industry and boost generation from non-fossil fuel sources, said economic affairs minister, Rafizi Ramli, although he did not specify when the ban would be lifted. The Southeast Asian country banned its renewable energy exports in October 2021 in hopes of developing the local renewable energy industry. Rafizi said lifting the ban will help Malaysian firms take advantage of higher demand from neighbouring Singapore, and position Malaysia as a renewable energy hub.
