The Malaysian government will launch a framework on environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) standards by year-end to help local companies transition into renewable energy, said International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz. The framework will involve consultations with industry players, he said at the launch of Malaysia’s first battery energy storage system (BESS) for renewable energy. The one-megawatt BESS prototype, developed by construction company Citaglobal and precision manufacturer Genetec Technology, will support the energy needs of Genetec Technology’s plant in Bangi, Selangor.
