Malaysia Should Engage With EU On New Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive: Palm Oil Council

Earlier this month, the European Parliament adopted a new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which significantly enhanced and expanded sustainability reporting regulations for all large European companies, including EU subsidiaries of non-EU parent companies and small- and medium-sized enterprises listed on regulated markets. In a statement, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) urged relevant businesses to comply with new reporting obligations. The new CSRD will be applied in stages. Companies who are already subjected to the current reporting obligations are to make the changes by 2024, large companies who are not subjected to the obligations by 2025 and SMEs by 2026, said MPOC.
