Malaysia Needs Almost RM400bil to Adapt to Climate Change, Says Nik Nazmi

Malaysia needs an estimated USD85bil (RM392bil) to adapt to climate change in the next 50 years, said The Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. He said that transitioning to renewable energy would play a crucial role in addressing climate change through the reduction of carbon emissions. Nik Nazmi said while the exact total investment required to reach net-zero emissions is still being determined through studies, it is estimated that RM637bil of new investments in renewable energy are required.
