Malaysia Maintains Committed to 50 Per Cent Forest Cover
Malaysia remains committed to maintaining 50 per cent of its land under forest and tree cover, in line with its 1992 pledge at the Earth Summit, said minister of natural resources and environmental sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. The commitment was emphasised at the 19th United Nations Forum on Forests in New York recently. Malaysia has 54.58 per cent or 18.05 million hectares of forest cover to date.
