Malawi Launches Carbon Markets Initiative, Sees Huge Potential For Carbon Trading.

Malawi's President, Lazarus Chakwera, has launched the Malawi Carbon Markets Initiative, recognizing the country's significant potential for carbon trading. With vast forest reserves and conservation parks covering over two million hectares, Malawi could generate carbon credits equivalent to nearly 20 million metric tons of carbon annually. This has the potential to bring an estimated income of $600 million to the country each year. The initiative will be overseen by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs and the Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change.
