KPMG to Launch Board Evaluation Software

KPMG is currently developing a software that could automate the board effectiveness evaluation process. KPMG Malaysia governance and sustainability head Kasturi Nathan said the idea to develop the software stems from KPMG’s explorations in using technology to improve efficiency in conventional practices. “I’m confident that the proliferation of technology still offers plenty of opportunities for us to enrich the board evaluation process and enhance good corporate governance in Malaysia,” she said. She said the software is targeted to decrease time for completing the assessment instruments, provide a uniform rating in the questions and assist in results’ analytics. “It will be customised in consultation with each company and packaged with KPMG’s governance and sustainability advisory services,” she said. Meanwhile, according to the company’s report on board evaluation, over 80% of large companies in Malaysia have conducted externally facilitated board evaluations, or made plans to undertake one in the coming years.
