Ghana Launches USD550bn Energy Transition and Investment Plan for Achieving Net-zero, Creating 400,000 Jobs by 2060.

Ghana has launched its new Energy Transition and Investment Plan, which outlines the country's commitment to fighting climate change while promoting economic development. The plan aims to achieve net-zero energy-related carbon emissions by 2060 through the deployment of low-carbon solutions across various sectors, including oil and gas, industry, transport, cooking, and power. Ghana intends to use the plan to engage the international community and investors for support in its energy transition. If fully achieved, the plan represents a USD550bn investment opportunity for sustainable development in Ghana and could create 400,000 net jobs in the country. The previous target was net zero by 2070, but the new plan shows increased ambition, targeting net zero by 2060.
