Garment Workers in Asia Deprived of $6bn in Wages After Brands Cancel Orders & Withhold Suppliers' Payments During COVID-19
A new report released in August 2020 by Clean Clothes Campaign reveals how garment workers in Asia have been deprived of up to almost $6 billion in wages after fashion brands cancelled orders and withheld payments to suppliers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report estimates the wage losses that workers have suffered for seven countries, and urges brands, retailers and e-tailers to commit to a wage assurance to make sure workers are made whole.
