Finance Ministry: Malaysians Who Donate to Covid-19 Fund, Health Ministry Will Get Tax Deductions
Tax deductions will be given to those who donate to the Covid-19 fund and Health Ministry, said the Finance Ministry. Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said this was part of additional measures to ensure “the effective delivery of financial resources to combat the Covid-19 outbreak”. “The Finance Ministry has approved a tax deduction for contributions and donations in cash and in kind by individuals and corporates to the Covid-19 fund and the Health Ministry. “The Government welcomes the generosity of Malaysians, both the rakyat and the corporate sector, in contributing and donating towards addressing the Covid-19 outbreak, ” he said in a statement on Monday (March 23). He acknowledged the contributions made by government-linked companies (GLCs) which amounted to RM60mil to date in the form of medicine and medical equipment. “The corporate sector is encouraged to emulate the generosity of GLCs in assisting national efforts to combat the outbreak, ” he said.
