ExxonMobil and Pertamina Ink Indonesian Carbon Capture and Storage Deal
ExxonMobil and Pertamina have signed a Heads of Agreement to advance their carbon capture and storage (CCS) hub for CO2 emissions. Building upon a joint study signed at COP26, the agreement outlines the next steps, including concept selection, pre-Front End Engineering Design, and a subsurface work program. The project aims to support Indonesia's net-zero goals by providing a large-scale storage solution for challenging-to-decarbonize sectors, such as manufacturing, power generation, refining, petrochemical, steel, and cement operations. Carbon capture and storage technology is crucial for significantly reducing emissions in these high-emitting sectors.
