Enhancing Accountability in ESG Reporting Can Boost Credibility of Plantation Firms

Malaysian plantation companies should improve transparency and accountability in their environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting to enhance credibility, according to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) associate professor Dr Seri Ayu Masuri Md Daud. The findings from her faculty of accountancy team’s research revealed that the majority of environmental reporting by Malaysian firms has been dominated by “soft” information such as vision statements and general environmental initiatives.
