Department Of Environment Will Tackle Open Burning Issues
Malaysia’s Department of Environment is gearing up to address open burning issues ahead of the dry weather season, mainly to address air quality deterioration and local haze that may jeopardise public health. “There are concerns that there will be an increase in the incidence of open burning, especially involving peatland areas and waste disposal sites,” the department said in a statement. Measures such as increased monitoring and patrolling operations are also being taken to deal with possible fire incidents.
