China’s Wind and Solar Power Generation Capacity to Surpass Coal in 2024

China’s wind and solar power sectors are set to triple their capacity to over 1,200 gigawatts (GW) by 2030, contributing to 25% of the total energy mix. This is part of China’s efforts to reach carbon neutrality by 2060. However, challenges remain as some of the country’s regions may face significant challenges due to the intermittent supply of renewable power.
