China To Relaunch Certified Emission Reduction Scheme This Year.
China is set to revive its voluntary carbon credits trading program, the China Certified Emission Reduction (CCER) program, this year. The State Council of the People's Republic of China announced that the country has completed the necessary infrastructure for the relaunch. The CCER program allows companies to earn carbon credits voluntarily by reducing their carbon emissions through initiatives like renewable energy generation and afforestation. The program was initially launched in 2015 by the National Development and Reform Commission but was suspended a few years later.
