Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has entered into a purchase agreement with CarbonCapture, a Direct Air Capture (DAC) company, to acquire 40,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide removal credits over five years. This deal is one of the largest DAC offtake agreements announced so far and the largest in the professional services industry globally. DAC technology, recognized as a key carbon removal option by the International Energy Agency (IEA), extracts CO2 directly from the atmosphere for various uses, including storage. With the need for large-scale carbon removal to limit global warming, DAC has the potential to play a significant role in achieving climate targets.
