Australia To Launch Decarbonization Plans For Key Sectors.
Australia's Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, has announced the development of sectoral decarbonization plans for six key emissions-intensive sectors. The plans will support the government's net-zero plan and interim climate targets. The sectors include electricity and energy, industry, the built environment, agriculture and land, transport, and resources. The waste sector will be included in the industry plan, and circular economy principles will be applied to all sectors. This initiative follows the establishment of Australia's climate goals last year, including a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 43% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.
