ANA Signs 30,000 Tonne Carbon Removal Agreement

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has agreed to purchase 30,000 carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits from Occidental's carbon capture subsidiary, 1PointFive. Occidental and 1PointFive are building the world's largest direct air capture (DAC) plant, "Stratos," in Texas, capable of capturing up to 500,000 metric tons of CO2 per year, with potential to scale up to 1 million tons. DAC technology is a key carbon removal option in the transition to a net-zero energy system. It directly extracts CO2 from the atmosphere, and it is expected to play a significant role in achieving the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
