AirAsia Eyes Carbon Offset Projects In Sabah — Fernandes
AirAsia plans to invest in carbon offset projects in Sabah as the airline considers introducing a sustainability surcharge for passengers, said advisor Tan Sri Tony Fernandes. Examples of projects it is considering include wind power generation, sustainable fuels, and reforestation schemes. "We will use the carbon emission fees we collect to fund these projects. We believe that more projects need to be done in Sabah as most of them are outside of the country," he said, noting that final plans will be determined within the next six months.
