70 Per Cent of Complaints in 2024 Related to Public Procurement, says MACC
The Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) reported that 70 per cent of complaints received by July 2024 were related to public procurement, up from 69 per cent in 2023 and 67 per cent in 2022. At the 10th National Procurement Conference, Deputy Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali noted that these cases typically involved abuse of power, bribery, and unfulfilled service and supply claims. He emphasised that fighting corruption in public procurement remains a priority for MACC, which has organised 126 programs to address this issue. The commission also made 113 governance recommendations to government agencies in 2022, with 65 achieved last year and 17 more by July 2024.
