The COVID-19 pandemic and the associated economic crisis are posing immense challenges with far reaching impacts across Asia. The period of economic rebuilding after the crisis offers an opportunity to rebound strongly and to build back better by aligning long-term recovery with the objectives of the Paris Agreement. Several countries in the region have gained international recognition for their successful response to the pandemic. In addition to the extraordinary measures taken to protect lives and livelihoods, leading Asian governments have now also committed to a green recovery that revitalizes economies and tackles climate change.
This conference will convene experts and decision makers to discuss priorities for a post COVID-19 green recovery in Asia. It will highlight opportunities for concerted efforts involving governments, the business sector and civil society to rebuild and transform economies and to confront the climate crisis.
